About the role
We are looking for a Occupational Health Nurse to be a part of the health and safety team providing occupational health support to the Bell Bay site.

Reporting to the Superintendent Health and Safety and working in a collaborative small team, you will;
- Coordinate and schedule health surveillance for team members according to their designated exposure groups.
- Perform periodic medical assessments and ongoing health surveillance to ensure compliance and well-being
- Maintain and calibrate relevant medical equipment specific to the role
- Complete and manage data collection and recording of health information within the relevant medical information databases (e.g. Cority)
- Complete PPE fit testing (Respirators and Ear plugs/muffs)
- Maintain stocks of medical consumables
- Assist in delivering health and wellbeing initiatives, including onsite clinics and promotional activities
- Provide advice and support to improve health and safety performance and prevent injury and illness across the operation
- Conducting Health & Safety reporting functions for internal HSE management system requirements
- Reviewing pre-employment medicals in consultation with Occupational Health Advisor and Chief Medical Officer
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree and registration in Nursing
- An ability to work collaboratively and engage with a variety of stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
- A high level of professionalism and attention to detail in managing confidential medical records and matters
- A self-motivated work ethic and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Ability to assist as required with first aid treatment for acute injuries in an industrial environment
Highly Desirable
- Experience in Occupational Health, preferably in mining, construction or heavy industry
- Previous experience in health surveillance including completing and interpreting Audiograms and Lung Function test – with relevant certification.
- Experience with Cority (or similar) Electronic Medical Records SystemKnowledge and understanding of Health & Safety systems, standards and key risk management and assurance processes
- Experience in AOD Screening and holds relevant qualification

Our Bell Bay Aluminium smelter began operating in 1955 and holds a unique place in Tasmanian and Australian history as the first aluminium smelter in the Southern Hemisphere. Based approximately 50 kilometres from Launceston in Northern Tasmania, the smelter produces primary aluminium products.
