What does it look like to live close to our sites?
Blackwater is a rural town and locality in the Central Highlands Region, Queensland, Australia. It is a town in a significant coal mining area in Central Queensland. The name of the township was inspired by the dark colour of local waterholes. A Mining town where generally everyone looks out for each other.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The role will require you to support the Mining Manager, Senior Supervisors/Superintendents, Supervisors and the SSE to manage the mine in accordance with the requirements of the site Safety and Health Management System, site Environmental Management System, the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 and the Coal Mine Safety and Health Regulation 2017.
Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria:
- Working knowledge of the Queensland Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated regulations;
- Knowledge and understanding of Safety Management Systems;
- Previous experience in the supervision of workers within a mining or heavy industry environment
- Current Coal Board Medical
- Current Standard 11 (Surface)
- Open Cut Examiner Certificate of Competency (Open Cut Coal Mines) Queensland
Desirable Criteria:
- Demonstrated skills in risk awareness, hazard identification and a strong commitment to safety
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated high level of communication, analytical and problem solving skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office
