About the role
The Team at Rio Tinto’s West Angelas Fixed Plant Operations seek an experienced Isolations Officer to join us on a permanent basis, FIFO from Perth on 8 days on, 6 days off roster.
Reporting to the Shutdown Maintenance Supervisor, and working in a collaborative, exciting environment within the Asset Management team you will provide the isolation plans for shutdowns.
You will be responsible for;
- Ensuring permits are prepared and remain compliant with our procedures throughout the permit to work process.
- Confirming that hazards and controls are clearly defined and signed off by authorised personnel.
- The preparation of work permits and assigning of Isolation Lists are specific to the scope of work.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders to ensure the isolation of equipment is undertaken safely.
- Ensuring Work Orders / JSEA’s / Work Instruction’s / Team Based Risk Assessments (TBRAs) have been received from the Permit Acceptor.
- Authorising the issue of Permits and Certificates.
- Drive continued improvements within the permitting & isolation space
- An advantage would be having prior experience implementing / using electronic permitting systems.
What you’ll bring

- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Previous experience working in a similar role and environment.
- Exposure to hazard identification and management.
- An understanding of isolations, P&IDs, work permit processes, WHS requirements, legislation, and risk assessment processes.
- The ability to coordinate with multiple people across departments.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Clear understanding of integrated management systems, word processing, presentations and spread sheets.
- Previous exposure to Intellipermit or similar electronic permitting systems (advantageous)

Where you will be working
This position is based at West Angelas, working 8/6 roster from Perth.
Located 110km west of Newman, West Angelas operates on a fly in fly out roster from Perth, Broome and Busselton.
West Angelas is a pioneer in autonomous technologies – we were the first site to trial autonomous haul trucks and incorporate autonomous drilling into our operations in 2008, and we continue to have one of the largest mining fleets in the Pilbara.
Our high grade, low phosphorous Marra Mamba orebody is an integral part of the Pilbara Blend, contributing both lump and fines products on around four trains each day. At the West Angelas hub there are state-of-the-art power generation and refueling facilities. These facilities supply power and diesel fuel to the East Pilbara mine sites.
The future is bright at West Angelas with ongoing growth projects at Deposits C and D, as well as additional deposits under study providing enormous opportunities for personal development and career growth
