Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for an IT Support Officer to join our team in Perth. Reporting to the Service Desk Team Leader, this role is part of the In-house Service Desk team and provides the first point of contact and assistance for end to maximise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Macmahon’s technology service.

With over 55 years of experience, Macmahon is a mining contractor with a unique capability of offering its clients surface, underground and mining support services.

The Perth office is strategically located at the Airport (T1/T2) and boasts an impressive staff gym with personal and group training, free secure undercover parking, and electric vehicle charging stations. 

The role 

  • Provide first point of contact and assistance for end users
  • Resolve incidents and complete service requests
  • Escalate high priority issues to specialised support groups as required
  • Maintain ongoing communications with end users to provide updates
  • Verify resolution and improve satisfaction with Macmahon’s technology services
  • Contribute to projects / initiatives from management team, as required, to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of Technology & Innovation
  • Identify and suggest improvement opportunities leading to safer workplaces, increased productivity, and increased efficiencies 

The ideal candidate

  • 2 – 3 years of experience in technical support role
  • Broad understanding of IT and industry trends
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong customer service focus, evidenced through courteous and professional dealings with all stakeholders
  • Adaptability to learn and support new and quickly changing technologies
  • Ability to travel to remote sites from time to time 
  • C Class drivers’ licence
  • Strong motivation and ability to operate independently
  • Degree / diploma in Information Technology or related discipline (highly desirable) 
  • Detail orientated
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Capable of involvement in multiple activities and projects and ability to deal with ambiguity
