Telfer Operations
In the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our Telfer gold-copper mine is our fly-in-fly-out operation, comprising open pits, processing plant and an underground mine. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room and refurbished communal eatery.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Officer – Mining Systems to join our Operational Technology team at Telfer. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safe, reliable, and effective operation and maintenance of key technology systems. This position is site based on an 8/6 roster- flying on Tuesdays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of the fleet management system (Modular Dispatch), fatigue monitoring system, SAOC Dispatch terminals, and the Open Pit wireless network.
- Conduct regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mobile mining technology systems.
- Act as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the administration of Modular Mining’s DISPATCH system.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support to Fleet Management System (FMS) technicians and external contractors.
- Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of fleet technology systems, ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with change management processes, keeping registers up to date and conducting regular audits.
- Support the integration of new technologies and ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
About you:
- Experience in an open-pit mining operation
- In-depth knowledge of IP, FSK, FHSS & TDMA data communications systems
- Strong understanding of Open Pit Mining terminology and wireless network administration
- Experience in Windows, Linux, and embedded system administration
- Strong SQL database administration skills
- Familiarity with communications equipment installation standards
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP)
- Desirable: Communications Technician trade certificate and Qualified Modular Dispatcher
