King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. Undergoing significant expansion, KOTH is nearing completion of a 7.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant (previously 5.2Mtpa), providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Reporting to Senior Mine Geologist, the Open Pit Mine Geologist will contribute to the achievement of production & development targets of surface mining operations through the provision of a comprehensive service that meets internal geological and environmental health & safety standards.
This position will be offered on an 7:7 FIFO roster from Perth.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Complete ore block outs for optimising mining of grade domains in the pit.
- Ensure ore is extracted to maximise recovery and minimise ore loss and dilution.
- Maintain accurate records to maximise recovery and minimise dilution.
- Ensure all data captured is recorded in a timely manner.
- Assist with monitoring, sampling and logging of grade control drilling programs to accurately delineate the orebody ahead of mining.
- Assist in entry of production data and the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Liaise with the Geologists and Metallurgists to assist with ROM ore stockpile management to optimise the blend into the Process Plant.
- Update all plans and sections with production, survey and drilling data.
- Accurate translation, optimisation and reporting of post blasts ore polygons using company software (OrePro3D).
- In pit mapping of active floors and mining faces, to assist in ore block outs.
- Assist with training Geological Technicians.
- Assist with general on-site and surface operations as required.
- Other duties as directed by your Supervisor.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in science, Geology, or Applied Geology or a similar field.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a similar position related to structurally controlled gold deposits.
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020, and Work Health and Safety (Mines) regulations 2022
- Highly proficient in MS Office Suite, Leapfrog and Vulcan software for optimal results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
- Hold a WA C Class Driver’s License.
