Operational Specialist

Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

Roster: 4D/3R ex Perth

Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s US $2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.

Fortescue is seeking a passionate and strong leader to join the Operations teams at Iron Bridge. Reporting to the Superintendent OPF Operations, you will be responsible to lead a dynamic successful team whilst maintaining a strong safety focus.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Provide leadership in all aspects related to safety enhancing a solid culture
  • Ensure all equipment in your sphere of control is operated safely and efficiently
  • Encourage hazard identification and ownership to resolve and rectify
  • Carry out investigations into accidents and incidents and act on the outcomes accordingly
  • Conduct regular field interactions and inspections
  • Regular interaction with internal and external customers building key relationships
  • Ensure JHA and Take Control systems are used for daily inspections and operational duties to consistently high standards
  • Actively participate as part of the leadership group to achieve production targets
  • Support to commission new plant in line with the lead commissioning team plans
  • Support to Production Coordinators to execute plant shutdown and ramp up schedules
  • Development and auditing of procedures

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Considerable experience within mineral processing
  • Substantial experience in Metalliferous processing including wet and dry plants 
  • Demonstrated experience in contractor management through auditing systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs and computerised maintenance management systems
  • Strong understanding of both production and maintenance strategies for large scale processing plant
  • Competent understanding of isolation and permitting systems
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
