Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead.  Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville. ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a permanent position on a 8:6 roster, FIFO from Townsville, Cairns and Brisbane or DIDO from Mount Isa.

Reporting to the Senior Operations Engineer you will be working within the Cannington Operations Engineering team to produce the underground mining weekly schedule in alignment with the Monthly plan to meet business targets.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Delivery  of weekly underground mining schedule comprising Development, Production (drill & blast), Haulage and Service elements
  • Deliver 4-week outlook for development and production drill schedules identifying any off-track activities against the month plan, and developing mitigating strategies or enabling activities required to bring stoping fronts on-line 
  • Integrate the development and production drill schedules with the services, haul and firing schedules to identify and manage all interactions required for an effective overall weekly schedule
  • Identify enabling activities and ensure these are scheduled to meet SRF requirements
  • Assist with the execution of the current schedule by ensuring consistency of approach and alignment through daily re-alignment meetings with Underground Supervisors
  • Provide advice to Underground Crew Supervisors on variance identified during short interval control and escalate as required
  • Provide commentary to the A&I team on schedule compliance 

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

Essential

  • Previous experience working in an Underground Mining Operation
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an Underground Mining Operation
  • Previous short-term planning & scheduling experience in an Underground Mining Operation – Highly regarded
  • High level Microsoft Excel skills
  • Exposure to Deswik.CAD and Deswik.SCHED highly regarded
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in gathering and interpreting high volumes of data and information

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
  • In the absence of a formal qualification, significant experience in an Underground Mining Operation and Environment is essential
