About the Role 

Macmahon has a rare opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join our growing Underground division. Reporting directly to the General Manager - Underground, you will play a pivotal leadership role across a portfolio of underground mining operations, driving safety, operational excellence, financial performance, and sustainable growth.

Based in Perth with regular site travel, this position offers the opportunity to influence high-profile projects, work closely with executive leadership, and contribute to the strategic direction of one of Australia's leading mining contractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safe and efficient delivery of multiple underground mining projects.
• Ensure compliance with Macmahon and statutory HSEQ standards across all operations.
• Drive site performance to achieve budgeted revenue, profitability, and operational targets.
• Develop and implement improvement strategies where performance outcomes require adjustment.
• Review and consolidate monthly operational reports for business unit reporting.
• Foster a strong customer-focused culture that delivers outstanding outcomes for clients and stakeholders.
• Build, mentor, and develop high-performing leadership teams across projects.
• Strengthen internal capability through succession planning and development initiatives.
• Champion continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Lead organisational and operational change management initiatives.
• Identify and support business growth and expansion opportunities.

What You’ll Bring  

• 15+ years' underground mining experience, including extensive project or contract management leadership.
• Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering).
• First Class Mine Manager's Certificate (FCMM).
• Proven experience working with executive leadership teams as a trusted advisor and operational leader.
• Strong understanding of underground mining methods, infrastructure, and technologies that drive operational and commercial success.
• Exceptional commercial acumen with demonstrated experience managing budgets, contracts, and business performance.
• Outstanding stakeholder engagement, leadership, and communication skills.

Role Details

• Location:  Perth, Western Australia  
• Roster: Monday to Friday with regular site travel required
