About the Role

This role will be based at Yancoal's Yarrabee Coal Company (Blackwater, QLD).

Reporting to the General Manager of QLD, the  Operations Manager / SSE will be responsible for Yarrabee Coal Mine and managing coal load out facility, Boonal Joint Venture, to achieve results across the site’s key metrics.

This will include: developing and maintaining a positive proactive workplace culture; providing systems, standards and discipline required to enable the workforce to operate equipment and infrastructure in a safe, productive, sustainable and environmentally responsible manner; pursuing continuous improvement opportunities; and optimising coal recovery / quality of the coal resource.

About You

Having built a solid career within the mining industry, you are now seeking an opportunity that after a successful assignment in the role can lead to longer-term career progression within Yancoal. Your skills, experience and attributes will include:

• Preference but not essential, Tertiary qualifications in a related engineering or technical discipline
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in large coal mining excavator/truck/dozer push operations with demonstrated leadership with 5 years' experience in a similar position
• Strong knowledge of statutory laws and regulations governing open cut coal mines with statutory qualifications highly regarded
• Inclusive leadership traits which build a climate of trust and positive workplace culture
• Effective communications skills with all stakeholders
• Desire to progress your career further with the Company
