Work Location:

Perth based. Fortescue’s East Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster:

4:3 (4 days on, 3 days off)

As the Operations Specialist, you will be at the forefront of Fortescue's transformative journey towards a sustainable and decarbonized future. Join our dynamic OPF & Port Fixed Plant Control team and contribute to Fortescue's vision of becoming an integrated global green energy and resources company.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in establishing and mentoring a Fixed Plant Control training team that embodies the principles of the plant of the future. You will develop and implement innovative training and development programs to ensure a sustained stream of prepared replacement Controllers who are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry.

Collaborating closely with key stakeholders, you will drive the exploration and integration of new technologies and methods aligned with the decarbonization of our supply chain. Your efforts will contribute to the optimization of our day-to-day operating practices, as well as the continuous improvement of our supply chain's environmental footprint.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create dynamic and forward-thinking training and development programs for Fixed Plant Control trainees, tailored to the demands of the plant of the future. These programs will ensure that our Controllers are equipped with the necessary skills to operate in a sustainable and decarbonized environment.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive Fixed Plant Controller training program that nurtures talent and fosters a culture of growth and excellence. Your leadership will empower our trainers to embrace sustainable practices and contribute to our goals.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to identify and develop cutting-edge resources and methods for upskilling Controllers. 
  • Conduct thorough production performance assessments, challenging the status quo to identify opportunities for supply chain optimization aligned with our sustainability objectives. Your insights and recommendations will contribute to a more efficient and environmentally friendly supply chain.
  • Take charge of end-to-end project management for supply chain improvements, ensuring the successful implementation of sustainable solutions. Your expertise will contribute to the realization of our vision for a greener and more efficient operation.
  • Support the Control team by driving the standardisation of processes and fostering a culture of best practices. By establishing consistent and efficient procedures, you will contribute to the overall excellence of our operations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, engineering, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with control room operations and multi-site management is advantageous.
  • Solid understanding of processing operations, with a desirable level of expertise in sustainable and decarbonized practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of operational procedures, project management methodologies, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in managing capital projects, overseeing daily operations, and optimizing processes.
  • Hold qualifications in training and exhibit a track record of designing and delivering impactful training programs is desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, utilizing advanced features to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
  • Proven leadership abilities and the capability to build cohesive teams, inspiring others to embrace sustainability and work towards shared goals.
  • Communicate with clarity and conciseness, employing strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex ideas effectively.
  • Possess highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling you to identify opportunities, devise innovative solutions, and drive continuous improvement aligned with business goals.
