About the Role:
With Senior and Specialist Technician roles available within our Underground Material Handling Systems team available, with the Technician role reporting to the Senior Technician these roles are both responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Underground Crusher, Rock breaker and Material Handling System.
As experienced operators you will bring expertise from the Processing, Mining, Plant Operations or other industries that have required you to perform your tasks with a high standard in housekeeping as well as taking pride in the workplace as you deliver a range of operational tasks and housekeeping within the Material Handling System (MHS) to the BHP Carrapateena Mine Site.

Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster: 8 days on; 6 days off 7 nights on 7 nights off
Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time
In this role you will:
Oversee the housekeeping & operations of the MHS system which includes; conveyor belts, scrapers, skirting, chutes, walkways, rollers & frames. Other areas of responsibility within this role are the removal of metal from the MHS system, operations of the service truck, operations of the Integrated Tool Carrier and confined space entry.
Core attributes include the following:
• Removal of metal from all underground conveyor belts
• Maintaining a high standard of practice within the underground ore system
• Actively participate as part of the team, and take personal responsibility to help the team achieve results
• Maintain a high level of safety awareness and follow all safety procedures
• Report all safety hazards/risks and incidents according to site procedures
• Obtaining the required plant / equipment / site tickets to perform duties in the plant
• Develop excellent relationships with peers and work in a diverse team
• All operating areas are to be maintained to high level of housekeeping
• Clear communication & two -way radio protocol followed
• Report any potential maintenance needs to the team
About You:
• Previous experience in Mining, Processing, Plant Operations is highly desirable
• Proven ability to be adaptable to challenging working environments
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new technology concepts.
• Willingness to work for prolonged periods underground
• Maintain high standard in housekeeping and take pride in workspace
• Proactive, self-starter with strong communication skills (oral and written)
• Strong ability to develop trust and confidence within the team
• Possess a safety orientated outlook with OH&S awareness and understanding
• Overcomes difficulties to achieve positive outcomes
• Fast thinking and able to concentrate in a dynamic work environment
• Ability and willingness to perform isolations on plant and machinery
