About the role

This position will report to the Supervisor Mobile Maintenance and its purpose is to safely maintain heavy vehicle (HV) mobile plant equipment to the defined standards and procedures to ensure equipment availability targets are achieved. This position will play a pivotal role in our Mobile Maintenance team here at South32, and will give great exposure to contribute ideas to increasing safety & equipment availability whilst reducing risk & cost.

The role is 7/7 Days/Nights shift roster Thursday to Thursday, ideally Fly-in/Fly-out from Townsville, Cairns or Brisbane, or Drive-in/Drive-out from the Mount Isa area.

Some of your main responsibilities will include:

  • Scheduled and breakdown maintenance, inspections, diagnosis and repair to all areas of mobile plant, including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Conduct maintenance activities in an underground environment to a fleet of Sandvik and Epiroc drill rigs ,CAT underground trucks and loaders and ancillary mobile equipment
  • Accurate completion of technical documentation reports and drawings as required
  • Use of computerised maintenance systems (SAP)
  • Ensuring adequate scoping of corrective work to facilitate the work management process

 You’ll be a great fit if you have:

  • Fault finding abilities
  • Ability to manage, influence and work within a multi discipline maintenance team
  • Previous history working in a mining environment as a HD Fitter
  • Trade Qualified Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter / Mechanic (Australian recognized)
  • Previous history working on underground drilling equipment including Sandvik DD421 and Epiroc Simba L6C & M6C
  • Previous history working on underground load and haul mobile fleet including CAT R2900 & R3000 LHD and AD63, AD60/AD45 trucks
  • Hydraulic fault-finding experience (essential)
  • A current driver’s license
  • HRWL Dogging, Rigging and Forklift Licenses are desirable but not essential
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate
