About the role
Reporting to the Supervisor Arboriculture/Horticulture, seeking a qualified Mentor Arboriculture/Horticulture to execute and assist to schedule and coordinate operations that include Arboriculture, Weed Management and Horticultural grounds maintenance works throughout Alyangula and around GEMCO’s mining infrastructure areas.
The position plays a key role in Indigenous participation/employment whilst enabling the team to reach their full potential. The role provides on the job mentorship, training and supervision of the teams during routine high-risk work and is a keystone for safety performance in this high risk workstream.
This role is offered on a 9 day fortnight roster, full-time ongoing basis with a high preference for applicants to relocate to Groote Eylandt.
Some of your main responsibilities will include:
- On the job mentorship/supervision of Arboriculture/Horticulture team to deliver excellent safety outcomes
- Mentor the Arboriculture/Horticulture team to meet best value and best practice service delivery
- Provide on the job coaching, guidance and support for varied operations within the Arboriculture/Horticulture team
- Actively contribute to South32’s Indigenous participation/employment objectives
- Mentor and coach the execution of Arboriculture/Horticulture operational tasks
- Engage and effectively communicate with stakeholders to execute tree and grounds maintenance works
- Coach and continually improve team performance
- Support, mentor and exchange knowledge for the ongoing development of indigenous and/or tradesperson employees within the team
- Support team safety compliance/culture
About you
To be considered for the role, you will have:
- 5 years Arboriculture (or related Technical), 2 years Leadership/Supervisory
- Cert III Arboriculture (or higher - required) In either: Arboriculture, Horticulture, Conservation Land Management, Indigenous employment related, Contracts management, Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ), Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA)
- NT Drivers Licence (MR/HR Truck endorsement), White Card
- High level internal and external communication capacity, Microsoft office suite competence, operational workflow management, Tree inventory software competency
