About the Role

We currently have permanent opportunities available for experienced Track Machine Operator’s to join the team here in Port Hedland! This is a FIFO opportunity on 2:2 or 8:6 roster.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Track Machine Operations your duties will include the following:

  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations;
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development;
  • Competently operate a variety of Track Machines including Ballast Regulators, Production Tampers and Switch Tampers on all BHP Iron Ore Pilbara lines consistent with Operating Rules, Regulations and Safe Work Procedures Applicable.
  • Operation of ancillary equipment of various types, including lifting equipment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of railway network including locations of sidings, signals and road crossings which forms signed Route Knowledge.

About You

As the successful candidate you aspire to be and exhibit the following traits:

  • Cert II in Rail Infrastructure (Mandatory)
  • Sound knowledge of Track Machines (Operating and Driving) is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience using Plasser ALC programme is preferred but not essential.
  • Must hold a current driver’s license.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Be able to pass a Category #1 Rail medical (Mandatory)

In this residential role you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The 15,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities. The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife. FIFO

You will be based at Port Hedland on a fly-in fly-out 2:2 or 8:6 roster. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. Additionally you will have access to the state of the art aquatic and sporting facilities in the town of Port Hedland. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
