Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.
Iron Bridge represents Fortescue’s latest operation culminating in a new OPF/CHF, new technologies and camp facilities.

Critical to the success of Fortescue’s Iron Bridge Fixed Plant Operation, this role is accountable to ensure the OPF shift production targets set out in the 24hr plan are safely and efficiently achieved.
Reporting to the Iron Bridge OPF Control Supervisor, this OPF Controller role is accountable for the Iron Bridge OPF Operations Centre interaction and coordination with wider Iron Bridge site operations.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Coordinate day to day operation and take direction from OPF Control Supervisor
- Maintain positive communication skills via two-way, email and direct methods – this includes the ability to give an explanation or direction that is clear, short, and concise.
- Monitor system alarms and corrective actions taken to rectify alarm situations
- Look for production opportunities and escalate issues directly.
- Ensure efficient and accurate reporting to the business through reporting platforms including but not limited to A-plus, Babelfish, excel, outlook
- Follow and support FMG Corporate and site procedures
- Periodically review quick trends, and actioning before reaching an alarming level
- Have clear understanding of FMG OPF and site emergency procedure
- Provide quality shift handovers, verbal, electronic and maintain daily Log Sheet
- Follow escalation process and standard operating procedures for efficient communications and operations
- Identify problems in operations process and resolve them in an efficient and timely manner
- Actively investigate breakdowns and delays within the plant
- Review, maintain and create OPF control procedures including but not limited to SWI’s and single point lessons
Qualifications and skills required:
- 2 years in OPF Control Operations team would be advantageous, however candidates with OPF field Operations/Maintenance can be trained
- Proficiency of SCADA system Cimplicity or equivalent is highly advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey ideas persuasively both verbally and in writing.
- Computer literacy skills and a passion for Innovation and Technology
- The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to multitask on several activities/priorities at the same time
