Ore Car Fitter

Work Location: Hedland Operations - Rail

Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

Roster: 7D/7N/7R – FIFO ex Perth

Working in Port Hedland Western Australia, you will be part of the Ore Car Maintenance Team located approximately 20kms south, of South Hedland at FMG’s Thomas Yard Rollingstock Maintenance Facility. You will be part of a dynamic and diverse team responsible for the maintenance and servicing of a fleet of 4000+ Ore Cars. This role could have you working in the highly automated, technologically advanced wheel shop, or within the Ore Car Service Workshop. Key accountabilities will include:

  • Execution of Planned Maintenance Services to FMG's 4000 Iron Ore Rail Cars
  • Attending to reactive maintenance requirements to Ore Cars
  • Identification and implementation of safety improvement initiatives
  • Identification of productivity improvement initiatives

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Trade qualified in Metal Fabrication or Mechanical Fitting (essential)
  • Heavy Industrial Experience in a similar industry (essential)
  • Advanced comprehension skills, and the ability follow defined processes (essential)
  • High risk license in:
    • Forklift Truck
    • Dogging
    • Rigging (preferred)
  • Western Australian Motor Vehicle License
  • Competent in the basic use of SAP
  • Willing to learn and work outside the usual realms of your trade
