The Gwalia Gold Mine is located three kilometres south of the town of Leonora, Western Australia, and has been a flagship asset for our client St Barbara for the past 15 years. Macmahon is proud to be able to deliver a whole of mine service including mine development, ground support, production drilling and blasting, loading and trucking, shotcreting and paste fill reticulation from May 2021. The Gwalia mine is the cornerstone of Leonora operations and has strong margins supported by good grades and a focus on costs and returns. The site has a track record of continuous improvement, with a recently upgraded mine ventilation system, and a previous significant upgrade of the accommodation village that incorporated a number of energy efficient and environmentally friendly initiatives.
 

The Macmahon Underground team are seeking Paste Fill Operators to work FIFO on a 2:2 roster (Dayshift and Night Shift) from Perth to project site.
 

Key responsibilities will include:
 

•    Ensuring that paste walls, paste reticulation, compressed air, ventilation infrastructure, water, and dewatering pipe systems are installed on time and according to specifications;
•    Support the efficient operation of the underground mining systems and processes 
•    Utilise all mobile equipment and tools with care and attention
•    Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in operated equipment; and 
•    Identify and report hazards using the site's hazard reporting system to achieve a zero harm environment
 

Key factors to your success include:

•    Having previous experience working in an Underground mining environment including general mine service work; and
•    Previous experience in installation of Paste infrastructure is highly desirable.

 

Successful applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol screen as well as obtain a National Police Clearance.
