On 29th August 2024, Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) ownership changed from South32 to Gear M Illawarra Met Coal Pty Ltd trading as GM3. For an interim period between September 2024 to February 2025, South32 will continue to provide recruitment services on behalf of GM³. GM3 is an emerging Australian metallurgical coal mining entity owned by global investment entity Golden Energy and Resources (GEAR) and M Resources, a market leader in metallurgical coal industry services.

Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) produces premium quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a 12-month fixed-term full-time position based across the Illawarra operations.

As the Payroll & Human Resources Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring all timekeeping and payroll outcomes are accurate and compliant with relevant industrial instruments. Additionally, you will provide administrative support to the HR team.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Interpret and input all time and attendance data (Timesheets, Additional Shifts / Hours and Leave Requests) on site in preparation for payroll processing.
  • Build strong relationships with HR colleagues, operational leadership, and external advisors to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
  • Interpret time and attendance data in line with relevant industrial instruments to ensure compliance.
  • Resolve time and attendance discrepancies, handle payroll queries, and liaise with the team to ensure accurate and efficient resolution of issues.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Proficient in the use of variable payroll systems (preferably SAP) in a similar busy environment.
  • Technical understanding of Superannuation and PAYG tax.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse data to problem solve payroll discrepancies.
  • Skilled in planning, prioritising, and organising workload effectively.
  • Ability to question, listen actively, and respect differing viewpoints; a team player who values collaboration and support.

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Relevant qualifications in Payroll, Human Resources, or related disciplines
