Our Opportunity
12 month contract
Work location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
As a People Advisor, you will partner with leaders and employees across Fortescue’s technology, energy and metals businesses. You will support teams working across international portfolios, global growth opportunities and the development of capabilities that support Fortescue’s green metals, renewable energy and emerging technology ambitions.
The role will provide exposure to employee relations, workplace legislation, policy interpretation, performance management and organisational change across different business areas and jurisdictions.
You will work with experienced People team members to provide practical advice, undertake research and analysis, and contribute to projects that support Fortescue’s growth and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support leaders and employees with practical advice on People policies, workplace practices and employee relations matters.
- Assist with performance management, workplace reviews, investigations and related documentation.
- Undertake research and analysis relating to workplace legislation, employment conditions and People practices.
- Support People activities across Fortescue’s international portfolios, global growth opportunities and evolving business operations.
- Contribute to People initiatives supporting green metals, renewable energy, emerging technologies and business development.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, briefing materials and other People documentation.
- Contribute to employee engagement, leadership development, training and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in law, human resources, employee relations or a related discipline.
- An understanding of employee relations, workplace practices and relevant legislative frameworks.
- Research, analytical and written communication skills, including the ability to interpret information and provide clear, practical advice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage confidently with a range of stakeholders.
- Well-developed organisational and administrative skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Sound judgement and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
- An interest in how People practices support international growth, emerging industries and evolving business models.
