Permit Officer

Work Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

Roster: 8D/6R, 7N/7R – FIFO ex Perth

This role is responsible for all Isolation, tagging and permit requirements for the process plant in either a routine daily or shut down capacity. This position will be imperative to maintaining the safety of people and equipment in and around the plant. We will provide training to build your knowledge in isolations and permit issuing for the right candidate. 

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Carry out daily inspections of work areas to ensure correct isolations are in place and are functional
  • Develop and execute permits and isolations for breakdowns and shutdowns. 
  • Carry out permit and isolation audits. 
  • Maintaining and updating permit to work database. 
  • Assist with preparing, planning and implementing all permitting and isolation plans prior to work commencing
  • Audit all permits to ensure compliance

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Current WA electrical license or mechanical fitter trade essential 
  • Experience in iron ore fixed plant essential 
  • Experience in permitting and isolations is desired but not necessary
  • Ability to read piping and instrumentation diagram & electrical drawings is beneficial
