Pipeline Engineer
Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster 8D6R FIFO ex Perth (The role will initially be Perth based and moving to site based within the next 6 months, subject to the requirements of the Business).
This is a rare opportunity to get in at the ground level as a key person involved with the maintenance and operation of what will be Australia’s longest iron ore pipeline. The role also extends to providing support to an extensive network of water infrastructure including a 200 km raw water pipeline. The role also covers process piping conveying more than 470 GL/annum of water which is more than the annual water usage of Perth which is 420 GL/a.
Reporting to the Senior Pipeline Engineer, The Pipeline Engineer will be part of the wider Engineering & Reliability team which is composed of experienced professionals with a winning attitude.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Asset lifecycle planning, maintenance strategy advice / development, defect elimination
- Reliability engineering support for operational activities to Iron Bridge operations
- Technical support in project feasibility, detailed design, asset standardisation, procurement and commissioning
- Optimisation of asset management strategies to support the FMG Operational Plan
- Targeted failure mode and effects analysis to eliminate downtime and unscheduled maintenance
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil/Structural preferred) or equivalent (Trade + additional qualifications)
- At least 3 years of experience with engineering of piping and pipelines in mining or related industries
- At least 1.5 years of site experience
- Asset management and reliability
- Integrity management
- Experience with broad range of piping materials relating to water, slurry pipelines, piping & pipeline systems
- Exposure to approvals and compliance
- A valid manual car drivers license
