We are looking for a Planner/Scheduler to develop and maintain maintenance schedules that support safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role is key to ensuring the effective execution of daily planned maintenance activities for fixed plant assets, aligning with safety, environmental, and operational requirements.

Reporting to the Supervisor Maintenance and working in a diverse team within the Main Workshop, you will:

  • Develop, review, and revise daily schedules for planned and preventative asset maintenance activities.
  • Optimise schedules to enhance resource efficiency, minimise downtime, and comply with statutory and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and external vendor to identify and mitigate risks associated with planned maintenance tasks.
  • Use the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance data.
  • Support quality execution of the schedule while identifying opportunities for improvement in future schedules.
  • Facilitate scheduling meetings and communicate maintenance priorities effectively.
  • Collect and analyse maintenance data to support continuous improvement initiatives.

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Experience in scheduling or maintenance planning within heavy industry, mining, or similar environments.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP) and scheduling tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including MS Excel and Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and engage with cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive mindset focused on problem-solving and improvement.

Where you’ll be workingRio Tinto Weipa is located 900km north-west of Cairns on the Gulf of Carpentaria and has been operating for over 50 years. Over the years, it has developed into a vibrant and diverse cultural hub of the Western Cape. Weipa offers a coastal community rich in geographical beauty and cultural heritage that provides families with opportunities to participate in leisure activities, sports and community events. With a strong sense of community, the region has plenty of natural beauty to offer including the opportunities for boating, fishing, camping and exploring. Construction of the Amrun mining operation, located 40 kilometres southwest of Weipa, was completed in late 2018 expanding our bauxite operations to continue production from one of the world’s premier bauxite deposits.
