Planner Long Term – Rail Engineering

About the role

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced Long-Term Planner to deliver and continually improve accurate long-term plans, including budgets and forecasts, aligned to the specified Asset Class/Area of Responsibility, maintenance strategies and relevant business plans.

Reporting to the Superintendent Asset Management Rail – Rail Engineering, you will have the responsibility of the below primary accountabilities:

  • Apply of Asset Whole of Lifecycle (WoL) plans into maintenance system and review effectiveness
  • Develop quality maintenance budget aligned with asset life cycle costing strategies and business planning process
  • Manage long term maintenance plan for Asset Class or Areas of Responsibility
  • Support planning and engineering teams with work management and financial data related to asset maintenance

More broadly, you will be responsible for day to day duties, including but not limited to the below :

  • Create long term maintenance forecast/projection for each assets life cycle strategy by using tactics to align major tasks with identified scheduled loss periods
  • Engage with Discipline / Reliability Engineering to ensure alignment on maintenance strategy requirements.
  • Communicate maintenance plan changes to all stakeholders
  • Review spares requirement for critical assets
  • Recommend minimum stock levels are set for all planned activities for critical assets
  • Update long term maintenance forecast
  • Review asset condition and history information for the development and management of the major equipment change-out tactics
  • Develop / amend shutdown strategy (frequency and duration) of major maintenance work, whilst ensuring shut strategy is aligned to calendar period
  • Review preventative maintenance plan compliance on critical assets in consultation with Reliability Engineers

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have :

  • Maintenance planning experience in rail / mobile / fixed plant / utilities
  • Experience with financial budgeting & business analysis
  • CMMS maintenance modules
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Intermediate / advanced use of MS Office (Excel / Project)
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with multiple conflicting priorities
  • A minimum C Class Manual Drivers License

Where you will be working

This role is being offered in our Perth based offices – CBD Central Park. Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 15 mines across the Pilbara via 1,700km of track. With depots located at Tom Price, Cape Lambert and Dampier (7 Mile), each train is operated by a single driver and comprises up to three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.7 kilometres in length with over 40 trains operating per day. We are also applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network.
