We all have something to contribute, and it’s this contribution that makes for a great organisation and fulfilling career.About the roleWe are looking for a Resource Planner / Scheduler to provide resource planning & scheduling support to the Rail Operations teams to deliver optimised manning plans that maximise the efficient and safe use of people resources across Rail.

Working 5 days on, 2 days off roster and reporting to the Superintendent, Rail Planning & Logistics, your key accountabilities will include:

  • Manage all aspects of the Rail Operations manning roster from publication down to execution.
  • Ensure all required changes to flights and accommodation are managed accurately and in line with business deadlines to minimise operational costs.
  • Ensure the final roster complies with all rostering principles and fatigue management guidelines.
  • Ensure rosters are optimised to maximise the utilisation of resources to deliver the rail plan.
  • Provide quality customer service and stakeholder management to a range of stakeholders across the division.
  • Work with Operations and other stakeholder teams to implement improvements initiatives.

What you will need for this roleTo succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in Operational / Production / Planning & Scheduling functions
  • Excellent problem solving, organisational skills and stakeholder management skills
  • Self-motivated and have the ability to work independently
  • A continuous improvement mindset and ability to offer and implement solutions in dynamic environment

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Relevant experience in railway logistics
  • Experience with Rio Tinto operational systems
  • Broader system knowledge of Mine and Port interfaces
  • Experience in systems and tools development & analytical capabilities
