We are looking for a Regional Planning Lead to perform project planning and scheduling services for Rio Tinto closure projects in the Australia Pacific Region (APAC). You will work seamlessly with the Closure APAC team members and report into the APAC Project Controls Lead. You will also liaise with closure staff working for supporting functions such as Finance and Procurement.  Workload and scope will be determined by the APAC Project Controls Lead.  You will coordinate with District Managers, Asset Managers, and Study Leads to verify and track schedule performance for each assigned asset/ project.  You will work with the APAC Project Controls Lead to compile all reporting necessary for stakeholder and project meetings, reviews, and routine project control meetings. 

Responsibilities:

  • Report to the APAC Project Controls Lead.
  • Implementation of the global project services mission, vision, and goals.
  • Perform project planning and scheduling responsibilities monthly as directed by the APAC Project Controls Lead.  The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Responsible for overall regional schedule portfolio
    • Rio Tinto Closure P6 Database Management
    • Instruct and coordinate with project schedulers
    • Procurement Support
    • Schedule creation and Maintenance
    • Monthly progress reporting
    • Change order Management (Trends)
    • Coordinate monthly service provide progress review meetings
  • Collaborate with Asset Managers to establish routine progress review meetings.
  • As directed by the APAC Project Controls Lead, ensure that all required tools, processes and procedures are being used/ implemented on all assigned projects.
  • As directed by the Project Services Manager, support with the following:
    • Global process improvements and implementation
    • Recruitment of new project controllers and schedulers
    • Lead regional trainings and presentations

Qualifications:

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • A University degree in engineering, construction management, accounting or a related field is desirable.
  • 2 or more years of experience planning and creating/ maintaining project schedules.
  • Experience with creating and maintaining schedules in P6 for a portfolio of projects
  • Understanding of project management and controls concepts
  • Knowledge or experience in progress management
  • Experience with earned value management and forecasting
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge or experience in change management
