About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project or Portfolio Leader covering Technology or Operational Projects to join our team.  

Reporting to the Manager Delivery Olympic Dam, the purpose of this role is to provide leadership and oversight of direct reports focussed on the safe/efficient development and execution Technology projects through their lifecycle in line with BHP and Industry standards.

This role is accountable for overseeing the safe, effective and well planned project development and execution of a portfolio of Technology projects each ranging from $1M - $20M covering, Infrastructure, Applications, Information Technology or Operational Technology.  

Please note this position is based in Adelaide with regular travel to Olympic Dam as required. 

In this role you will:

  • Positively shape the culture of your portfolio in alignment with the BHP Charter Values
  • Motivate, engage and coach the team towards achieving safety, inclusiveness and productivity goals through understanding and enhancing individual development plans,
  • Continually explore and iteratively reassesses the best fit solutions, takes ownership of project decisions and outcomes and monitors and manages impacts to value across the project lifecycle (e.g. social, environmental, commercial),
  • Leverage your experience and history in Project Delivery through adoption of BHP or industry project frameworks ( BHP Small and Medium Project framework, PMBOK, Prince 2, Agile), 
  • Identify opportunities to optimise value, manages associated risks and applies Optimised With/Optimised Without framework principles to create and preserve maximum value from projects across BHP,
  • Learn to know your customer and obsess with meeting their needs. Through engaging the capabilities of the entire organisation, 

About You

  • You will have a proven track record of successful front-line teams leading.
  • Operational and Construction leadership experience is essential and you will have experience across operational and Information Technology Projects. The results you have achieved will demonstrate your ability to engage, lead change and influence others.
  • Strong  ability to multi task, meet tight deadlines and adapt to a constant changing environment.  
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills are critical to this role, as well as a strong desire to motivate and lead your team.
  • Stakeholder engagement and strong collaboration with Production, Mechanical/Electrical Maintenance and Process Safety personnel will be required to maximise performance.
  • Experience in budget management and forecasting
