Title: Power Electrical / Electronics Engineer – Green Fleet Development
Work location: Perth based (Hazelmere)
Roster: 5/2 Roster (Mon to Fri)
In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet
Based out our new Hazelmere R&D facility and reporting to the Principal Electrical Engineer Green Fleet Development, we are presently looking for an experienced Power Electrical / Electronics Engineer
Key accountabilities will include:
- Design and deliver Power Electrical / Electronics systems for Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) and Rail Locomotives Green Fleet Development projects in a safe, timely and sustainable manner
- Review and validation of various Power Electronics engineering designs and associated components
- Providing technical assistance on Power Electrical / Electronics Systems related works being carried out
- Develop technical specifications to meet project specific objectives
- Review / mark up engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes
- Resolution of technical and design issues
- Proactively deliver on the company’s stretch targets
- Ensure compliance to the project management process by project owners
- Liaising with a range of key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects
- Providing regular updates to the Principal Electrical Engineer including work progress, risks, and priorities
Qualifications and skills required:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Power Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- Electrical, Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering degree, preferably a qualification in Power Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- Experience with Rail Locomotives / Heavy mobile equipment is highly advantageous
- Experience with operation of DC/DC converters, inverters, high powered EV chargers and VSDs
- Experience in designing high voltage DC power systems with experience in electrical noise filtration is advantageous
- Exposure with automotive industry comms protocols, such as CAN bus and J1939
- Knowledge of standards and regulations associated with electrical design, installation, and testing
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams
