Power Station Electrician

Work Location:  Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth

Solomon Power Station is in the process of commissioning 15 medium speed gas reciprocating gensets from Bergen Engines, in conjunction with the current operational power station consisting of 2x LM6000PF and 4x Solar Titan 130 Gas Turbine Engines and their associated balance of plant.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Ensure all maintenance activities are resourced appropriately and executed in accordance with the maintenance strategy
  • Carry out daily rounds and plant inspections to ensure of a safe operation
  • Carry out planned and routine maintenance activities on a broad range of electrical and instrumentation equipment
  • Operate the gas turbines and their associated balance of plant from the onsite control room
  • Diagnosing and fault finding on all equipment in the power station.

 Qualifications and skills required:

  • Electrical license
  • Cert IV in Instrumentation with relevant experience – essential
  • Hazardous areas qualifications
  • Supervised gas fitter qualification - desirable
  • Experience in power generation, GE LM6000 or Solar Titian 130 Turbines preferably
  • Experience in power generation, Gas reciprocating engines
  • Experience with all aspects of power station and or processing plant maintenance and fault finding i.e., instrumentation, PLC, ComAp Control system operation
