Managed by Yancoal, Premier Coal is the leading coal producer in Western Australia. Operating an open cut coal mine near Collie in the South West of WA, the operation produces more than 3 million tonnes of coal per year for domestic supply.

As part of the Premier Coal 2025 Apprenticeship Program, you will be offered a 4-year structured program where your participation will allow you to develop into some of the best tradespersons in the resources industry.

Apprenticeship Disciplines Available

• AUR31220 Certificate III Mobile Plant Technology (Heavy Equipment Diesel Fitter) x 3
• AUR30320 Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology (Auto Electrician) x 1

What are we looking for in a candidate?

We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals, who want to embark on the journey of completing a 4-year apprenticeship 

• Possess strong communication skills
• Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and show a willingness to learn
• Show readiness to work in a dynamic team environment
• Commit to completing the qualification within the designated timeframe
• Attend and perform work professionally, adhering to employer requirements
• Take care of workplace property
• Respect the rights of other employees in the workplace

Eligibility

• Applicants must have already completed or are due to complete Year 11 in 2024

• Applicants with qualifications higher than secondary school (Year 11 and 12) and who have completed or are currently completing a pre-apprenticeship/pre-vocational course in the relevant trades are also encouraged to apply.

• Sound written skills
• Ability to complete repetitive tasks
• Possess and maintain a current WA drivers licence
• Transportation to and from work
• You will need to be self-motivated and have a mature attitude to complete the required studies
• Live within 70km of Premier Coal Mine
