<span 72="">The Opportunity - Permanent, Full-Time Position

<span 72="">The opportunity to join the Finance function at South32 as Principal Accounting and support the Team Lead in managing all internal financial accounting processes to meet monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly reporting requirements. You will also provide leadership and expertise to ensure reporting of timely and accurate financial accounting information for the Group and JV Participants.

<span 72="">Reporting to the Manager Accounting Australia, key role responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to

• <span 72="">An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development
• <span 72="">Coordinate the period-end close process for Australian operations and provide support to Financial Accounting Analysts
• <span 72="">Management and control of the Balance Sheet for companies as allocated responsibility
• <span 72="">Actively engage and work with other functional areas (eg Tax, Treasury, GBS, Site based Finance Business Partners) to ensure accurate financial accounting information
• <span 72="">Identify and implement opportunities to improve and simplify various accounting activities occurring throughout the year
• <span 72="">Ensure that a fit-for-purpose internal control environment operates, complies with Group requirements, and is effective. Complete verification processes over internal controls as scheduled and/or requested
• <span 72="">Prepare, review, have audited (as applicable), and timely file all statutory financial statements for companies as allocated responsibility for
• <span 72="">Provide all necessary financial accounting information as requested by JV Participants (including cash calls)
• <span 72="">Ensure all group consolidated half-year and year-end financial accounting and reporting requirements are met
• <span 72="">Provide first-level accounting advice to site-based finance teams and engage with group on more technical and judgmental matters
• <span 72="">Liaise with external auditors in the provision of required information for half-year, year-end and entity financial statement purposes
• <span 72="">Execute the required capital management activities in conjunction with Treasury ensuring that legal entities can legally meet the capital management initiatives

<span 72="">   About You 

• <span 72="">Detailed understanding of finance processes and deliverables in a global corporate/ commercial environment
• <span 72="">Advanced understanding of accounting issues for mining operations
• <span 72="">Problem-solving and root-cause identification skills
• <span 72="">Passion for continuous organizational improvement
• <span 72="">Experience with financial ERP/ ECC systems (preferable)
• <span 72="">Experience in coaching and influencing teams
• <span 72="">Experience with South32 finance processes is highly desirable
• <span 72="">Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing business needs and circumstances
• <span 72="">Well-developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and facilitation skills
• <span 72="">Excellent skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning, and organizing

<span 72="">Qualifications

• <span 72="">Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
• <span 72="">CA/CPA equivalent accounting qualification
