We are looking for a Principal Advisor Occupational Hygiene to provide SME technical support and advice in occupational hygiene. This is a great opportunity for an experienced professional who will be responsible for the delivery of advice, strategy, planning, support and training of Hygiene activities to our operation.
Reporting to the Business Partner Health and Hygiene and working in a global and diverse team, you will be:
- Partnering with the site hygiene teams to provide technical SME support and direction;
- Developing and coordinating strategies and initiatives to achieve our health targets across RTA and monitor progress against our objectives.
- Responsible for improving and standardizing industrial hygiene practices across our Pacific operations and in alignment with RTA globally.
- Leading and delivering health improvements and issue resolution activities with our Pacific sites
- Supporting the development of monitoring plans by site hygiene teams
- Building a strong collaborative network for hygiene team members across Pacific assets.
- Monitoring emerging risks and regulatory trends related to industrial hygiene
- Leading the hygiene community of practice in RTA Pacific;
- Monitoring health trends across RTA and providing guidance and improvement opportunities.
- Promoting and facilitating sharing and learning across RTA including best practices and incident learnings.
- Close collaboration with RTA Atlantic Hygiene to help develop, share best practices and ensure alignment within RTA globally
- Collaborating with Rio Tinto Health Area of Expertise to ensure alignment within the discipline
- Coaching and mentoring of occupational hygiene resources across RTA Pacific including development and delivery of technical training programs.
- Designing governance and assurance programs to monitor and proactively manage occupational hygiene risks in Pacific and across RTA.
What you will bring
- Tertiary qualification in occupational health, hygiene or related field
- Certification as an Occupational Hygienist
- Extensive experience in the development and implementation of comprehensive hygiene management programs.
- Extensive knowledge of Australian health and safety regulations
- Demonstrated leadership experience and problem-solving capability with a continuous improvement mindset
- Extensive experience in mining, mineral processing or related industry. Previous aluminium smelter experience would be desirable.
- Strong communication, collaboration, engagement and influencing skills
- Ability to work with many stakeholders across different time zones.
- Ability to be flexible to respond to changing priorities and work proactively and autonomously.
- Ability to travel to sites to provide support for planned projects and emerging exposure risks
