About the role
We are looking for a Principal Adviser, Learning Experience, to help shape the future of learning at Rio Tinto.
As part of Rio Tinto’s broader intent to reset learning as a critical enabler of our ambitious strategy, you will contribute to strategic thought leadership, as well as delivering upon specific global learning initiatives.
This role provides a great opportunity for a strategic thinker and disruptor, who understands integrated talent management, HR systems, design thinking and project management methodologies.
Reporting to the Manager Learning in the Talent Area of Expertise, you will:
- Provide strategic thought leadership and best practice to reinvent our current learner experience and ecosystem.
- Partner and consult with the business on strategic learning needs and innovative solutions.
- Lead and contribute to diverse learning projects that will support the business on a global level, such as global onboarding, development planning, career management, strategic learning interventions, learning analytics.
- Collaborate with the global learning community of practice to build capability and share improvement initiatives across the group.
- With internal and external partners, optimize the use of current and future learning systems and technologies, to meet the needs of our business and the modern learner.
- Manage and leverage our key partner relationships including our global learning partner.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Extensive experience in Learning and Capability Development within a diverse workforce, including the use of learning technologies.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to engage and influence key stakeholders.
- Experience in end user design thinking methodologies, learning experience design and project management.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Degree qualification in Human Resources Development or similar.

Rio Tinto in on an exciting journey to reset learning as a critical enabler of the business strategy. As part of the Global Talent function, the newly formed Learning team are looking for new ways to embrace the modern learner and foster a culture with learning and curiosity at its core. This team will work closely with our internal and external partner network to deliver our priorities and goals.
