We are looking for a Principal Advisor – Carbon Operations  to provide support for our carbon operations across sites. This role will be based in Brisbane with regular travel required to sites. You will provide support in plant improvement projects and continuous improvement processes by working closely with site stakeholders and technical teams.

You will deliver technical training to site engineers and operating teams and lead health checks and governance activities at operational sites, assessing them against best practice.

Reporting to the manager Carbon and Reduction, and working in a collaborative community you will:

  • Conduct critical assessment of site operational and quality data to highlight potential issues early
  • Support site based technical teams with critical process decisions
  • Attend site operational excellence forums
  • Support plant improvement projects through BI and continuous improvement processes
  • Deliver technical training to site engineers and operating teams
  • Be facilitator for Carbon Communities of Practice
  • Complete Assessments of annual site technical plans
  • Develop/maintain partnership with Atlantic operations technical services and ATS
  • Lead health check governance activities at operational sites – Assessment against current best practice.

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following:

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your peers
  • Highly effective communication skills (written, verbal) and the ability to confidently conduct presentations and training sessions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and manage potential conflict in a constructive and effective manner.
  • Strong problem solving and data analysis skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of field activities and procedures
  • Previous experience working across sites at a technical or operational leadership level
  • Effective time management skills, the ability to balance multiple and competing priorities.
  • Preferable to have experience across rodding, bake ovens and paste plant areas. Strong fundamental understanding of paste plant operations is of critical importance.
  • Engineering/materials science degree or comparative work experience
