We are looking for a Principal Adviser II who serves as a functional safety subject matter expert to identify and resolve complex problems and is a best practice/quality resource, focusing on the site implementation of the Functional Safety Standard. Identifies applications of functional safety knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problems across mining, processing, rail and transportation.
This is a great opportunity for someone to lead worldwide site level technical network to support the implementation of Functional Safety and the operationalization of the Functional Safety critical controls.
Reporting to the Manager Functional Safety and working in a collaborative community, a challenging and exciting environment, within the Development & Technology team, you will:
Develop Product Group / Business Unit / Project Portfolio Major Hazards risk management programs of work, helping to understand current status and barriers to the fit for purpose implementation of Functional safety standard (D7)
Ensure a Major Hazards Dashboard (Leading Metric’s) improvement plan is defined for each product group and aid in the development of the quality data set for D7
Support business units in responding to significant functional safety issues/events or problems and helps to develop countermeasures and corrective action plans
Provide technical leadership and direction relating to management and on-going development of Functional Safety Risk Management and Assurance Systems within the sustain capital projects
Coordinate the international technical committee of site and business unit functional safety practitioners
Initiates and leads functional teams and/or strategic initiatives that have significant impact on Managing Major Hazards risk within the business
Establish appropriate control and change management systems across the business, focusing on Bridge and Force and Authority to operate (i.e. degraded state)
Support wider team to deliver Product Group / Business unit risk management and assurance programs of work
Leads the development of Functional Safety risk and assurance material for a broad range of area’s including Processing, Automation, Rail, Remote Isolation, Underground equipment, Tailings and material handling equipment

Ability to influence and explain functional safety throughout the organization
Both operational and project expertise of managing functional Safety lifecycle
