About your role

This is a key leadership role in the Global Procurement Technology team. As a Principal Advisor Global Procurement Technology, you will be responsible for partnering with Rio Tinto’s Information Services and Technology (IS&T) team, product groups and business areas to plan, develop and successfully execute global Technology category management strategies for Infrastructure Products and Services (Infrastructure). 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and strategic procurement professional with a strong background in Global Technology Category Management for Infrastructure including cloud, network, telecommunications, asset management and storage solutions. You are a natural leader with experience leading a global team. You have a passion for end-to-end category management; commercial excellence; process improvement and supplier partnering as enablers to IS&T’s priorities, transformation and digital strategy success.

Reporting to the Senior Manager – Global Technology Procurement you will:

  • Develop, implement, monitor and refresh sustainable category strategies for Technology Infrastructure.
  • Take responsibility for the end-to-end procurement activity for the Technology Infrastructure category.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to build strong relationships and establish alignment on category opportunities, risks and priorities using various tools including data analysis and insights.
  • Drive growth in the category through effective partnerships and strategic supplier relationship management
  • Provide leadership and direction to a global team involved in implementing the category strategies.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have extensive experience in Technology category management for Infrastructure as well as a proven record of leading to drive successful commercial outcomes. Your ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal & external stakeholders to drive a culture of collaboration, participation and improvement is essential. You will have experience working in a large, complex global organisation.
