About the role

We are looking for a Principal Advisor Governance and Strategy to lead a stream of work and be a key member of a highly functioning team working on an interesting and challenging project.

Reporting to the Project Director and being a key member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for:

• Developing and implementing effective internal governance structures to support project needs.
• Engaging with internal and external experts to develop the strategic direction of the project.
• Reporting project progress and associated risks to the Steering Committee, Executive Committee and Board.
• Maintaining an effective risk register which reflects the dynamic nature of the project and providing guidance and advice to management on key project threats and opportunities.
• Using innovative, blue-sky thinking to support the development of an options analysis and pathways to success considering various project stakeholders (government, community, company).
• Maintaining effective controls and accountabilities to facilitate project success.
• Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to create a shared knowledge base, and ensure objectives are understood and aligned.

• Ability to consider options and prepare persuasive well-written documentation
• Self determination to run with assigned responsibilities
• Experience in project governance and assurance processes
• Experience in undertaking risk assessments and proactively managing risk
•  High degree of confidentiality and discretion
• Some experience in strategic decision making
• Strong stakeholder management and organisational skills
• A good understanding of company board process
