We are looking for a Principal Advisor Indigenous Attraction to shape and deliver the attraction strategy, which includes positioning of Rio Tinto externally as an employer of choice for Indigenous professionals and working with candidates, suppliers, and internal business stakeholders.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Indigenous Leadership and working in a supportive environment within the Indigenous Affairs team you will be:

  • Leading a mindset change across the business, ensuring we have a workplace culture that respects and values Indigenous leadership and contribution
  • Sourcing and engaging with qualified candidates to connect to current open roles as well as transferable pathways and proactive placements
  • Maintaining positive relationships with senior leaders, Talent Acquisition Partners, and Human Resources Business Partners to understand and anticipate emerging talent needs and identify opportunities, including talent moves for employees
  • Researching, analysing, and utilising external market data, sourcing methods, trending, benchmarking, and best practice to develop and flex resourcing strategies
  • Supporting effective and compelling communications about the intent of Rio Tinto’s Indigenous Leadership strategy and outcomes
  • Networking with potential hires through professional groups on relevant platforms and events
  • Supporting the onboarding of new employees into the business for a positive experience
  • Maintaining budgets and relationships with vendors and consultants

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • A background in recruitment, marketing and/or talent management, including experience in developing sourcing strategies for professional and manager-level candidates
  • Solid knowledge of sourcing techniques on social media and professional platforms and talent acquisitor software and networks
  • Experience in engaging and evaluating external vendors
  • Comfortable with data-based decisions and using data to shape a story
  • A positive, collaborative, and passionate team member, ready to support and help others to learn and grow
  • Driven and strategic thinker with an ability to influence senior leaders and key partners to enact change across a networked organisation
  • Strong sense of curiosity, are not afraid to step out of your comfort zone to challenge traditional thinking
  • Resilient and tenacious in your approach to your work and key deliverables
  • Flexible, able to deal with ambiguity and continue to shape the work as needed
