We are looking for a Dynamic leader to join our Group Internal Audit Team and provide independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve Rio Tinto’s operations
In this role you will work with projects and diverse teams on a broad number of topics. Bring an open, collaborative style that is comfortable with vulnerability and able to challenge in a curious and caring way, without defaulting to authority.
Key responsibilities
- Be responsible for delivery of internal audits and assurance covering operational risks and controls for the Board Audit Committee and Sustainability Committee.
- Support planning and delivery of the Group Internal Audit assurance program for Operational Risks on an annual basis.
- Source and manage external subject matter experts as well as engaging internal expertise to ensure our outputs also benefit from the use business guest auditors.
- Manage and assist with the compilation and review of the reports for the Executive Committee and Rio Tinto Board Committees.
- Support and drive continuous improvement and lean methodologies within the overall team
- Maintain the key GIA relationships with the respective Managers and General Managers in their assigned risk areas and support the General Manager, Internal Audit – Operational Risks
- Act as a role model by consistently displaying exemplary Rio Tinto’s leadership behaviours and values (Safety, Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Excellence)
- Undertake special projects at the request of the General Manager or Head of GIA.

About Group Internal Audit:
GIA helps Rio Tinto accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and control processes. This team works across the whole of Rio Tinto globally and engages across Board Committees, Executive Committee, ops leaders, functional leaders and technical leaders etc. In this space we partner with Deloitte who do the actual ‘auditing’. Our GIA operating model is further strengthened by our “partner” relationship with an external service provider Deloitte.
