The Principal Advisor, Leadership Development is part of a small team in the Talent Area of Expertise (AoE), working to create a step-change in leadership capability across Rio Tinto.
We are looking for an experienced leadership development professional to lead the design and the delivery of a range of projects and programs which will energize, inspire and develop leaders across the Rio Tinto group to be their best and bring out the best in others.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Leadership Development and working in a collaborative global community within the Human Resources, Talent Area of Expertise, this role strives for a “global common and core”, where the work is globally common and feels relevant locally.
In this role you will:
- Lead and project manage the design and delivery of Group leadership development initiatives, integral to building leadership capability across Rio Tinto (including programs, tools, assessments and coaching)
- Find efficient and effective methods and processes by maximizing the use of learning technology to bring learning services and products to our leaders
- Partner with internal stakeholders, including Procurement, Data Privacy, IT and the People function as well as external partners ie learning service providers, to establish new agreements for service and thereafter effective governance and management
- Be proactive in continuous improvement by always seeking to find better ways to improve and bring innovation to the leader learning experience
- Bring a willingness and flexibility to contribute to other projects across the Rio Tinto Talent Area of Expertise
What you’ll bring
To be successful in this role, you will have experience designing, managing and coordinating leadership and culture programs and have experience with leadership assessments
You’ll bring a genuine curiosity and continuous improvement mindset focused on solving problems and creating value. You’ll be a team player with strong communication, influence and engagement skills at all levels, these will be important to develop and maintain collaborative relationships both internal and external to the organisation.
You will be a compelling communicator and have experience managing vendors and have exposure to contract management, reporting and KPIs. An eye for identifying technology-based solutions to find better ways to manage and deliver learning projects will be important.
You will ideally have exposure to complex, multinational organisations with a knowledge of HR and people functions, Learning, Coaching or Employee Communications. You may bring experience in consulting which would be highly advantageous.
Your tertiary education in Learning / Education, Leadership Development and/or Organisational Psychology is desirable.
