As a Principal Advisor, People Engagement, your focus is to evolve and embed the frameworks, systems, processes, and tools to drive performance excellence across Rio Tinto.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and project manage the implementation of the new performance framework, tools, infrastructure, systems (e.g., Workday), working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless experience.
  • Leverage research, data, and analytics to develop hypotheses to assess people engagement trends across Rio Tinto and use evidence-based insights to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making. 
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and the People function as well as external partners to establish new agreements for service and thereafter effective governance and management.
  • Support with the design and implementation of people engagement initiatives including people productivity, culture and listening, and future of work design. Identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to optimise.
  • Provide continuous innovation and proactively seek better methods to enhance people engagement and performance.
  • Implement strategies to foster collaborative and high-performing teams, building trust, enhancing communication, and emphasising collective success to maximise effectiveness and productivity.
  • Identify opportunities across the broader Talent Area of Expertise and lead high priority projects, adapting and anticipating change.

  • Proven ability to create and deliver impactful people and engagement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, capable of providing feedback and gaining buy-in.
