We are looking for a self-motivated Principal Advisor Project Shaping to oversee delivery of the RTA Sustaining Capital studies program.

The role will be responsible to lead, train and mentor a team of Project Leaders to progress projects from Idea Initiation (Gate 0) through to the end of Pre-Feasibility gate (Gate 2). Reporting to the Manager Project Practices & Improvement you will:

  • Manage a team of Study Project Leaders by providing leadership, direction, technical and commercial expertise
  • Manage the studies program in consultation with Site stakeholders and Project Delivery Manager
  • Define the project scope in accordance with the business issue (or opportunity) and stakeholder requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and business requirements, including Rio Tinto policies and procedures
  • Maintain a risk management focus throughout the project life cycle
  • Manage engagement of third-party service providers to deliver the study scope

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A strong commitment to the safety of yourself and others
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or equivalent (highly desirable)
  • Extensive experience in mining and projects (including studies)
  • Highly competent in relationship building and interacting with key stakeholders to negotiate successful outcomes while satisfying business and stakeholder requirements
  • Provides leadership and direction to team, including training and mentoring
  • Desire to share knowledge and strive for continual improvement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to form effective project strategies and solutions

Where you’ll be working RTA Sustaining Capital provides support and project delivery services across the Pacific Aluminium assets. Services include the delivery of estimating to engineering, project controls, procurement & contracts and assurance to capital effectiveness, learnings, planning and reporting, and improvement. This role is based at our newly renovated Brisbane Hub, Midtown Offices on Charlotte Street. Travel to Rio Tinto Aluminium's assets will be required for this position.
