Innovation will continue to play a critical role in improving health and safety outcomes, delivering new mines of the future and decarbonising the industry.  Reporting to the Automation and Technology Growth Manager, we are seeking a Principal Advisor – Remote Sensing Research to identify and influence next generation technology opportunities for remote sensing in collaboration with external organisations such as universities and research institutions. This role will be Brisbane based and on a day to day basis you will:

  • Embrace a growth mindset and use collaborative ways of working in multidisciplinary teams as we shape and deliver the future of Surface Mining
  • Support investigation, understanding and articulating use cases (including Concepts of Operations), with a focus on remote sensing technology.
  • Support partnership and collaboration activities with universities (i.e. RTCMA), OEMs, start-ups and other 3rd party organisations to identify opportunities of emerging surface mining technologies (related to autonomous equipment, remote sensing or other surface mining equipment)
  • Review technical feasibility and credibility of potential vendor technologies and engage with vendors to define system architecture requirements
  • Support development of potential technology roadmaps for identified technologies, which includes consideration of the technology maturity 
  • Participate in trials and Communities of Practice in key areas of autonomous equipment and remote sensing
  • Participate in the stage gate review processes

Where you will be working  This role is based in Brisbane CBD, and working Monday to Friday.
