About the role

We are looking for a Principal Advisor Remuneration based in Perth or Brisbane to support the development and implementation of Rio Tinto Remuneration policies and programs. The strategies and systems adopted in Rio Tinto to remunerate employees at all levels is critical in being able to attract, retain and mobilise high calibre individuals.

Reporting to the Manager Employee Remuneration APAC, you will be responsible to:

  • Provide technical guidance to various stakeholder groups and employees within the business
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the Employee Remuneration APAC team on technical remuneration concepts, designs and implementation.
  • Researches/monitors developments in reward design, systems and structures and ensure compliance with legal
  • Works closely with the procurement and vendor management teams, to manage and ensure the provision of services by vendors
  • Manage rewards related projects and studies to ensure latest innovative reward strategy and plan design trends and opportunities for integration into Rio Tinto
  • Support a geographically diverse client group across multiple APAC locations, including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Mongolia, India and China.
  • Manage eligibility appeals and manages employee exception handling from the standard policy
  • Implement training and communication programs for managers and other employees.
  • Liaise and partner with other regional remuneration teams to ensure best practices and cross-collaboration.
  • Establish and maintain key network of contacts to facilitate the exchange of remuneration information.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in HR, Industrial Relations or a Business-related discipline
  • Extensive experience in remuneration, performance related discipline within a global organisation
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering projects for senior stakeholders, clients, business leaders, other parts of the HR structure
  • Strong understanding of market trends within Australia, New Zealand and Asia
  • Confidence and ability to partner and influence stakeholders at all levels internal and external to the business.
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary HR principles, philosophies, and relevant laws/regulations governing remuneration (job analysis, market pricing, market analysis, fixed and variable compensation plan design)
  • HRIS experience, including experience with web-enabled performance management tools and/or platforms
