We are looking for a Principal Advisor Risk to further mature risk assessment and management by building capability in the application of quantitative risk techniques within a large global organisation.In the Pilbara region of Western Australia, Rio Tinto operates the world's largest integrated portfolio of Iron Ore assets with industry-leading margins. Our premium product suite, including our flagship Pilbara blend, drives strong customer relationships and is supported by technical and commercial marketing expertise. The Iron Ore business continues to be the world's largest autonomous truck operator and a proud leader in automated mining technologies.This role is a great opportunity to influence the future direction of risk through the application of quantitative techniques as Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO) moves to further enhance its data intelligence and insights capability. Reporting to the Manager Project Services, you will be:

  • Providing risk facilitation, analysis and reporting services
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring for line leaders in the application of risk in their jobs and embedding risk into their business processes
  • Applying quantitative risk analysis techniques to help inform complex problems
  • Be a pivotal interface between the Product Group and global functional teams with regards to advancing capability in the risk process

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Strong business acumen, and have worked in similar industries
  • Demonstrated collaboration, facilitation and influencing skills at senior management levels
  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications
  • Well developed analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience in applying risk in strategic business planning and projects using both qualitative and quantitative risk analysis techniques
  • High levels of initiative and demonstrated experience working with a broad stakeholder group

Where you’ll be working

You will be based at our head office located in Perth Central Park building, working Monday to Friday with regular site travel required. We encourage agile and flexible work arrangements.
