Our Project Practices team are looking for a Principal Advisor- Risk to join our Perth regional hub as part of the Rio Tinto Projects department. You will you support project studies and capital projects for various product groups, business units, and other organisations across our projects portfolio.

- Facilitate risk assessments for capital projects (above a certain threshold) for various Product Groups;
- Support projects to drive effective consideration of risk in options’ decision-making processes;
- Provide risk management advice to support projects consider potentially complex problems through a risk lens;
- Partner with various Project Managers to establish a risk review cadence for ongoing capital projects;
- Prepare risk summary reports to be incorporated in stage-gate approvals;
- Support project team in presenting project risks to independent reviewers ahead of stage-gate approvals;
- Articulate project interdependencies risks and communicate with relevant stakeholders;
- Liaise with various Risk Business Partners to form views on/ escalate business risks driven by projects;
- Connect and collaborate with global studies and projects’ team on regular basis;
- Interface with the Integrated Assurance Office, Group Functions and external auditors as needed;
- Support management forums from a risk and assurance perspective, such as senior leader meetings;
- Develop and maintain effective relationships at various levels within the business and with external stakeholders.

- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong communication skills (e.g. ability to clearly articulate context/risks)

This position is based in our Perth Business Hub and will have flexibility for you to work a mixture of office-based and home-based days should you wish. As a global role, there is an ongoing requirement for flexible hours outside the standard working day to support colleagues in alternative time zones. The ability to schedule your time flexibly around this requirement will be offered in return.
