The primary purpose of the Iron Ore Health, Safety and Emergency Services division’s is to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of our people ensuring everyone who works at Rio Tinto goes home safe and healthy every shift. Reporting to the Senior Health & Safety Business Partner, this Senior role will provide expert advice in the safety field through interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending solutions/best practices.

Key responsibilities and activities of the role include:

  • Partnership with stakeholders and peers to advance safety maturity
  • Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions
  • Operationalise and contextualise global safety initiatives
  • Contributes towards the development of Rio Tinto’s safety guidelines and standards.
  • Monitoring and reporting Health & Safety risks
  • Providing support, assistance, and education on safety specific matters
  • Supporting HS strategy development and delivery
  • Conducts strategic safety reviews
  • Provide innovative ideas and solutions based on industry best practice
