We are looking for a Principal Advisor, Social Investment Performance to design and lead the implementation of a ‘performance’ program, the way in which we will collect, analyse and use social investment data to inform and contribute to the successful implementation of Rio Tinto’s Social Investment for Impact Strategy and Framework (SIF), The SIF is the way in which Rio Tinto will operate and deliver investment initiatives and partnerships that will create social-economic outcomes and impact for communities and society.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Social Impact within the CSP Area of Expertise (AoE), you will have the following responsibilities:
- Lead social investment performance improvement initiatives including design, delivery and management of effective reporting systems and processes
- Develop company guidance related to social investment performance and reporting (internal and external)
- Lead the central CSP social investment budget moderation process in collaboration with Finance, Product Group, asset and CSP AoE stakeholders
- Support CSP AoE systems transformation technical requirements and implementation
- Analyze social investment data, monitor performance, and provide insights that inform decision making, including identification of emerging trends, risks, and opportunities
- Support the implementation and enhancement of key SIF tools including the Partnering Principles and Criteria, Social Outcomes Indicator Matrix and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning programs
- Provide professional expertise, advice, guidance and/or support to Assets, Product Groups or Functions on social investment performance related activities, building local CSP capability and expertise of team members, where appropriate
- Liaise with senior leaders across both Communities & Social Performance and the Product Group or Business Unit; promote leading practice and leverage innovative ideas
- Maintain a favourable and collaborative relationship with the internal and external stakeholders, particularly related to the area of technical expertise
- Work with key functions including Ethics and Compliance, Legal and Risk, to identify and implement enhancements or improvements including training programs required for good performance, strong governance around social investment performance (due diligence, code of conduct, risk analysis and assessments)
- Identify resource requirements as needed

- Experience in community engagement and development, social performance, social investment and change management would be advantageous
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship management and influencing skills including with senior leaders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated project management and/or management of change experience, with experience seeing projects through the full-life cycle
- Ability to work in an agile environment and as an enabler of change
- Strong organisational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
- Solid organisation or sector knowledge would be advantageous

Where you’ll be working Our Communities and Social Performance Area of Expertise (AoE) is Rio Tinto’s Technical CSP function. It provides support to the business to build respectful and trusted relationships with host communities that deliver sustainable improvements in social and economic outcomes. The AoE works with CSP practitioners and leaders across the business to build capability, support social performance delivery, monitor, and respond to emerging trends, and provide assurance and risk management. The AoE also maintains Rio Tinto’s management systems, CSP standards and reporting process.
