We are looking for a Principal Advisor Studies to lead a team to advance the project studies focused on decarbonising the Rio Tinto Iron Ore power network.

Reporting to the Manager of Studies and working in a challenging and exciting environment within Rio Tinto Energy and Climate team, you will be:
Developing and implementing study scopes, estimates and plans in accordance with the business and regulatory guidelines;
Developing and implementing an effective stakeholder engagement plan through the life of the studies;
Monitoring, managing and reporting all relevant study performance indicators to meet the business requirements;
Managing relationships with key study stakeholders;
Managing study risks and applying risk management principles;
Provide technical support and direction to study stakeholders, building on and sharing the lessons learnt from previous projects;
Identify and resolve any study delivery performance issues in a timely manner;
Identify and implement improvements to study delivery methods;
Responsible for driving study initiatives as part of RTEC working collaboratively across the business to ensure that projects are strategically aligned and meeting business objectives;
Managing multiple studies to support the program; and
Mentoring junior study leads to support developing the team.
What you’ll bring

A bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant qualification in a transferrable field;
Be high performing team member with an ability to lead others;
Resilient and adaptable to fast-paced environments with a high attention to detail and the ability to multitask;
Effective communication skills with the ability to influence without authority, gather information and negotiate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
Proactive, analytical thinker with strategic problem-solving skills.
10+yrs of studies experience with a deep understanding of land access processes and approvals; and
Experience in renewable energy development (either wind, solar or storage). Transmission experience will be considered.

Where you’ll be working
Rio Tinto’s Energy and Climate Change Centre of Excellence has been established to drive and support the business to deliver our 2030 climate commitments and realise our ambition of net zero emissions by 2050. Working dynamically and collaboratively across the business, the Centre of Excellence focuses on five key areas to implement our energy and climate change strategy: Abatement project delivery; Net-zero pathway planning and technology; Emissions reduction in business improvement; Physical climate risk and resilience; and Capability uplift. Engagement is key to addressing climate change effectively, and the team works closely with stakeholders both within Rio Tinto and outside of the organisation.
This role will be based in Perth.
