About the role
We have an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Advisor - Team Effectiveness within our RTIO People function.
This role drives the uplift of team effectiveness across the organisation by shaping frameworks, enabling leadership development, and embedding coaching and collaboration practices aligned to business priorities. Reporting to the Manager Leadership & Culture, your key responsibilities will include:
- Building trusted relationships across functional and operational teams to influence leadership behaviour and embed team effectiveness strategies.  
- Leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of initiatives that strengthen team cohesion, coaching, and leadership capability. 
- Developing and evolving a scalable team effectives framework, aligned to broader workforce and operational goals (e.g., SPS, team effectiveness scorecard, learning modules, etc.). 
- Designing and supporting coaching and mentoring frameworks that grow leadership capability and support high-performance teams.  
- Promoting and fostering a safe and supportive environment, by proactively managing psychosocial risks and ensuring physical and psychological safety.  
- Promoting a respectful and inclusive environment aligned with Rio Tinto values and advocating for diversity, inclusion, and everyday respect.  
- Partnering with HRBPs and leaders to identify culture hotspots using data, surveys, and qualitative feedback. 
- Developing leader capability in inclusive leadership, respect-based behaviours, and handling of cultural issues. 
- Providing coaching, tools and scenarios that equip leaders to build trust and psychological safety within their teams. 
- Leading the design of targeted culture interventions.  
- Ensuring governance and compliance of training activities. 
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in organisational behaviour and development, or strategic HR. 
- Experience designing or implementing organisational or team capability frameworks. 
- Strong knowledge of coaching, mentoring, and leadership development methodologies.  
- Strong problem-solving abilities with the ability to find solutions for complex issues. 
- Experience in interpreting data and identifying key insights. 
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, and coaching capability across all workforce levels.  
- Proven track record of development and execution of strategic business wide initiatives.
